CorPHA-IM: Conversion of Residual Industrial Food Streams into PHA Products via Injection Moulding

October 15, 2024
The goal

The goal of CORPHA-IM is to develop a new value chain that converts residual streams from the food industry into high-performance consumer products. Specifically, de-lactosed permeates, whey permeates, and grey starches will be converted into PHBV, which will then be formulated into compounds suitable for injection moulding and used to manufacture biodegradable outdoor children’s toys.

Our role

Paques Biomaterials is responsible for developing and validating the production of PHBV from residual food-industry streams, scaling up the fermentation process at pilot scale, and supporting the techno-economic and commercial development of the new value chain.
