The goal
The goal of this project is to increase the application potential of mixed-culture PHA polymers produced from side streams. Through the development of four circular value chains in packaging, agriculture, ecosystem restoration and construction, the project will demonstrate the technological, ecological and economic feasibility of PHA-based materials at pilot scale, generate new insights into feedstock optimization and quality-controlled polymer production, validate the performance and end-of-life behaviour of four demonstrator products, and establish implementation pathways that accelerate the market uptake of circular, biobased and biodegradable alternatives to fossil-based plastics.
Our role
Within CircuPHApp, Paques Biomaterials will be responsible for the production of PHBV and PHA-X materials from residual feedstocks and will contribute to techno-economic assessment and implementation activities.
