Senior Commercial Sales Manager Biopolymers


With our bold ambition and rapidly scaling production capacity, we are ready to accelerate market adoption across Europe. To strengthen our commercial expansion, we are looking for an experienced, full-time Commercial Sales Manager Biopolymers who will drive strategic growth and open new markets for PHA materials.

Location: Mainly Delft, sometimes Balk or Emmen.
Availability: as soon as possible
Travel: Comfortable with 40-60% travel across Europe
Work Authorisation: EU citizenship/permanent residence

Your Impact

In this role, you will lead commercial development for our PHA-portfolio (PHA-X and Caleyda) across key European industries. You will build strong customer partnerships, identify new market opportunities, and close multi-year supply agreements that support our growth trajectory. You are energised by complex B2B sales cycles, technical value propositions, and the opportunity to shape a completely new class of sustainable materials.

What You’ll Do


Commercial & Market Development

  • Drive long-cycle B2B sales (6–24 months) from lead generation to contract signing.
  • Grow a portfolio of 30+ active accounts across packaging, coatings, civil engineering, agriculture, and compounding.
  • Secure multi-year supply agreements (€1–5M annually).
  • Develop new market segments and expand PHA adoption across Europe.
  • Manage 3–5 strategic accounts and ensure 85%+ retention.

Technical & Application Support

  • Provide customers with technical guidance on polymer selection, processing, and application engineering.
  • Position PHA materials against PLA, PBS, starch blends, and other biomaterials.
  • Support customer trials, upscaling and downstream processing.
  • Ensure compliance with European regulatory frameworks (PPWR, SUPD, REACH, EFSA).
  • Deliver sustainability insights (LCA, carbon footprint).

Sales Leadership & Execution

  • Achieve €3–5M in new business revenue per year with 25–35% margins.
  • Maintain 110–130% quota attainment.
  • Structure and forecast sales pipelines using CRM and data-driven KPIs.
  • Support Paques Biomaterials’ transition from scale-up to industrial operation.
  • Coach colleagues and contribute to building a high-performing commercial organisation.

What You Bring

Professional Background

  • 15+ years in business development, key account management, or strategic sales in polymers, biomaterials, or specialty chemicals.
  • Proven success in increasing territory revenue by €2M+/year.
  • Experience commercialising bio-based materials in multiple applications.
  • Managed €12M+ customer portfolios with European OEMs.
  • Strong European network in polymer, chemical, and compounding industries.
  • Deep knowledge of processing technologies (injection moulding, extrusion, thermoforming).

Education

  • MSc in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • MBA is a plus.
